That I was at Esozone. It was totally great. It was also the first time in years I'd actually 'been' some where. And I know I need to move and get out more.
The convention was great. I met a lot of cool folks and had a great time just talking shop and hanging out with other magickal people. And Portland is such a nice city, at least the downtown area. East Portland. Nice and quiet and very clean. East Portland is more the working section. I didn't get to explore it -- no time -- but I understand that's where the botanicas area. Next time. In fact I've got to start planning another 3 day weekend down. Maybe Thanksgiving weekend.
Since getting back it's been mostly work. And now that my friend is doing well in sales, the office bitch is out to get him. So I'm going to start laying down tricks right and left. Her power comes from the fact that she's been there longer than anyone but the owners and that she makes the most money in sales - in house, she doesn't have to do any cold calling. She's threatened that both of my friends there know a lot more than she does and that it obvious. Add to that my friend as I said it starting to do well in sales (as in much better than her) and she gets more insecure. And the more insecure she gets, the more vicious she gets. As in screwing with my friends jobs, e.g. proofs "accidentally" finding their way to her office. That's going to stop.
Some good stuff. I got an old IBM thinkpad laptop a few years ago. It needed a CMOS battery. I finally got one and now it fires up just great. I ordered some more memory for it, maxing it out at 288 RAM and I also ordered a Puppy Linux CD. It's a small distro and has a good rep for running on older machines. After that, I just need to get a compatible wireless card. All I want is a web browser for hanging out in the local espresso shops - they all have WiFi. Alas, Summer is almost over but I'll still have a good time.
I've also gotten into Moleskine books. Don't know why, I just love them.
I'm working a lot of 10+ hour days. Really hard in the Summer. Our plant is always a few degrees warmer (about 10 or 15) than outside and the area I work in gets no ventilation. But the paychecks are good.
which is great because this Friday I head down to Portland for Esozone! I. Can. Not. Wait. I need the time off and I really need to connect with other magickal/chaos people.
I haven't been doing much magick except some regualr MPR workings. Just the basic exercise. But I am actually beginning to feel the vibration in the appropriate areas of my body when intoning the names of the spheres. Very exciting! I'm working out some ideas for servitors, creating a class of spirits - all my own! Because some times the old, middle age spirits just don't quite meet modern day needs.
Things are still very dysfunctional at work. I've got some ideas to 'solve' the problems. Actually some of my workings (Hoodoo) seem to have had an effect though they take longer than I thought they would. But I'm going to have some candles burned at lucky mojo. Maybe get one person to move on. This person is just manipulative and abusive. She has to go. She's a big deal in sales so the owner turns a blind eye to what she does. In fact one person who is having a lot of trouble says the owner always backs her because she thinks like him. She needs to 'decide' to go into another area of work. Trying to think of ways for that to happen. I'm going to have a few candles for myself and a friend as well.
Erik Davis' site with his blog and articles. All are excellent.
He covers hie personal experience with visionary art, gnosis, magick, musi with some politics in there. Always interesting and worth reading. One to get started on is his entry on sacred geometry on the Playa (Burning Man)
Good quality, well written pieces. I am always happy to see an update.
Is a great site of, well occult forums. Lots of message boards to connect with others, heavy on Chaos.
Good news at work. One of the two people who was making life miserable for most people in the plant has given his two weeks notice. Only one week actually but a lot of us are so glad he's leaving, who cares.
This guy was lazy, negative, bitchy. 3 out of 3 supervisors he worked for said they had trouble with him. As in he did only the amount of work and what work he wanted to and then left on time every time. Knowing full well that this is a business that often requires more than the usual 8 hours. For some reason the owner kept giving him one more chance. He finally got the message. They were going to look for a replacement and then once he was signed, terminate the problem. Then he decided to just get rid of him. I guess he (the problem guy) got the writing on the wall and left. He claims it's to a job with a lot more money and vacation. Which I doubt. And if it is, well he won't have it for long. Not with his attitude and laziness. But I'm just glad he's going.
Another favorite it Lucky Mojo. The woman who runs it, Miss Cat is knowledgeable not only about Hoodoo, the African-American Magick system (which is not Voudou) but several areas of magick, comics and Blues. Huge section on lyrics.
She sells a wide array of items - candles, 7 day candles, herbs, oils, baths, powders well everything you need for getting what you want. The site also has a large collection of workings. Her Hoodoo course is highly recommended.
So get what you want or very often get rid of the trouble maker in your life.
One of the first websites I checked out, lo these many years ago is this one, Molochs home page. It is one of the first places I ever got some books that were privately published (e.g., not Llewellyn) that had a very different way of looking at and doing things than the 'harm none' Wicca current that dominated the 80s and early 90s.
Lots of opinion here along with his products. The two books I've gotten from him have been excellent. Be aware, these are books that he prints and binds (plastic comb) himself ( at least the ones I got a few years ago are)
I haven't tried his oils or any of his psionic devices but he does have a devoted following for the latter.
